Home Brewing with Mr. Beer in Time Lapse

Home Brewing with Mr. Beer in Time Lapse

Here's a little video I put together of the process of making Beer with Mr. Beer.  This time lapse video shows the steps in the process (most of them) and gives you an idea of just how easy it is to make great beer at home.  The recipe is Mr. Beer's standard refill Cowboy Lager.  Its pretty straight forward to cook this stuff up and the results are pretty decent.  This is the kit that I've started with and I've had some good results.  I'll be moving to an all grain kit very soon.

Muskoka Brewery - Mad Tom IPA

Muskoka Brewery - Mad Tom IPA

Over the past few months I've been really trying to hunt down some of the best Beers of Canadian Micro Breweries.  The strategy that I've started to use is to simply grab anything thats made in Canada that I've never tried before.  This led me to grab a couple tall boys of Muskoka's Mad Tom IPA.

I must admit, the initial thing that grabbed my attention about the can was the sinister looking moustached-man at the top who appears to be stealing a keg of Beer from a cabin in the woods.   Upon closer inspection, just about everything that could be identified as Canadian appears on the artwork around the lip.  I'll let you pick one up for yourself for analysis.   Anyways, on to the Beer...

This strong, citrus tinged IPA packs a hoppy wallop.  The bold aroma is chased by dry hopped, full-bodied flavour and a dry semi-sweet aftertaste.  Definitely a must try if you're a fan of Mill Street Tankhouse Ale.  I would even go as far to say that this beer even tops Tankhouse by comparison in similar style and palette.  Something about this Beer has really grabbed my attention.   It's a great discovery.  Is this what cottage country tastes like?  What I really do appreciate about this Beer is its easy going adirondack arm chair nature.  A great weekend beer.

I'm going to play it safe on this one and say that this would make an excellent pairing with any summer barbecue.  Next time that I make my Avocado Turkey burgers with sweet potato fries, you can be sure that this will be my first beer on deck!
